Foundation Stage 2
The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum is a comprehensive framework designed to support the learning, development, and well-being of children from birth to five years old. It emphasizes a play-based approach, allowing children to explore and learn in a stimulating environment. The EYFS curriculum is structured into seven key areas of learning:
- Communication and Language: Developing listening, speaking, and understanding skills.
- Physical Development: Enhancing coordination, control, and movement, alongside promoting healthy choices.
- Personal, Social, and Emotional Development: Building self-confidence, managing feelings, and forming positive relationships.
- Literacy: Encouraging reading and writing through exposure to a variety of texts and phonics.
- Mathematics: Introducing numbers, counting, and basic concepts of shape, space, and measurement.
- Understanding the World: Exploring the environment, people, technology, and communities.
- Expressive Arts and Design: Fostering creativity through art, music, movement, dance, role-play, and design.
These areas are divided into ‘prime’ and ‘specific’ categories, with the prime areas forming the foundation for successful learning in the specific areas. The EYFS framework also outlines the standards that all early years’ providers must meet to ensure children learn and develop well and are kept healthy and safe.
At Creative British School, the EYFS curriculum is implemented with a focus on creating a nurturing and engaging environment, tailored to meet the individual needs of each child. The school’s dedicated educators work closely with families to support children’s growth, ensuring they are well-prepared for the next stages of their educational journey.
As part of our holistic approach, we begin introducing the Arabic language to all students in FS2, laying the groundwork for linguistic skills and fostering an appreciation for the culture and language of the UAE. This early exposure equips students with essential communication skills and a strong foundation for future language learning.
